BOOM crew was out in force for the ASP event at Lower Tressles to witness round two of the action. The weather was amazing as the contest began its second battle for the king of lower tressles. The waves out there were unfortunately a bit flat but hey.. Lowers with one other guy - who can complain.
The crowd was a mix of industry folks, surf locals and surf industry enthusiasts. Great vibrations all day long! We will be sure to go back for the slug fest on Saturday. Thanks for Hurley, Boost Mobile and all the great sponsors of this classic event.
ASR was a mix of the insane, unusual and of course the site of much solid business for the action sports industry. Over the course of the 3 day show many new companies stood out as others that have been around DOMINATED.
As far as the start ups go; Atwater designer Scott Madison seemed to be leading with cutting edge designs and solid core business skills (view site). Perhaps BOOM will have a fit with such a great up and coming company. Then GOING OFF was the company TAVIK (view site). It looks as if they OWNED the area for emerging companies and had great buzz. BOOM will try all to get in with this crew of cool guys. Notion (view site ) also seemed to be killing it as well. These guys had there name everywhere and seemed to be having some good buyer traffic as well.
The more established standouts that seemed to be on top of their game. These standouts were lead the charge by VOLCOM. Great folks, tons of booth traffic and a fantastic metal show - these guys ROCK!- oh free beer too. BOOM agents were awed by this thorrific display. MADA looked like they were owning it a bit too. We personally love MADA (view site) and all of their guerilla efforts on our home break of Tressles. BOOM will find you guys and flash you our goods! Ben Davis (view site) (situated by VOLCOM booth) seemed to have windfall attention from all the hessian activity. Turns out they have lots of goods and fantastic brand. There was another standout that really didn’t fit the ASR scene but BOOM sensed huge opportunity SKELANIMALS (view site). Big opportunity and not yet selling online.
The show was a blast and met lots of good people. We hope to be there in January and respect the ASR biz as it is so darn fun. Till next year!
